and Settings

Browser Requirements

Recommended browsers are Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and Mac Safari.

Due to the always expanding and improving nature of Internet technology, we highly recommend that you use the latest versions of these web browsers.

Bare minimum. Do not use browsers older than the following:

Browser Caching*

It's best to set your browser to get the latest versions of web pages rather than letting it rely on older outdated versions it has stored.

Internet Explorer:  Navigate to Tools → Internet Options. In the Browsing History section click Settings. That will open the Temporary Internet Files and History settings. Change the setting from Automatic to Every time I visit the webpage.

Mozilla Firefox:  The latest versions of Firefox do not have an obvious control for this setting. In the address bar type about:config. Continue past the warning and double click browser.cache.check_doc_frequency. Change the 3 to 1.

Safari:  Will do this automatically.

Enabling Cookies, JavaScript and Java*

Enabling Cookies and JavaScript is the default behavior of commonly used browsers. If you have adjusted your browser to block Cookies and/or have disabled JavaScript you will need to reverse those settings.

Some sites may also require that you have a Java plugin. To find out if you have Java installed on your computer, type check java in any popular search engine and you will be presented with numerous sites that will perform the test. If you need to install Java, any search will take you to a download site for this free browser plugin.

Clearing Browser Cache*

It's a good practice to clear your browser cache (temporary internet files) regularly. This is especially important when experiencing problems. The following instructions for clearing out browser cache can also be used for deleting cookies, which in extreme circumstances may be required. Before clearing cache it's a good idea to logout of all websites you may have open.

Internet Explorer:  Navigate to Tools → Internet Options. In the Browsing History section click Delete. That will open the Delete Browsing History window. Make sure the Temporary Internet Files checkbox is checked and click the Delete button found at the bottom of the window.

Mozilla Firefox:  Navigate to Tools → Clear Private Data. Make sure the Cache checkbox is checked and click the Clear Private Data Now button.

Safari:  From the Safari menu click Empty Cache. To control specifically what gets cleaned, from the Safari menu click Reset Safari and choose desired checkboxes.

*When making changes use F5 to refresh your browser. Some changes may require restarting your computer.
